Local Insulation for Current Homes/Retrofit
Do you have drafty, noisy rooms? Are your energy bills consistently high? Let Home Insulation & Supply help! Re-insulating is a cost-effective home improvement that helps to create a quiet, comfortable and energy-smart place to be.
Updating Your Home’s Attic Insulation
We can remove your existing old attic insulation and add newer, high-performing insulation solutions. Adding attic insulation has benefits you can feel every day, including:
- Reduced Energy Costs. Air leaks can cause your heater or air conditioning system to work harder. This, in turn, will cost you. If you have the proper attic insulation, however, you can save a lot of money in the long run.
- Preventing Condensation. Moisture can cause costly damage to your house. The last thing you want to worry about is mold and mildew growth. Fortunately, with proper attic insulation, you can keep surface temperatures above the dew point.
- Improving Energy Efficiency. Insulating your attic will reduce your carbon footprint. You won’t have to worry about cranking your AC during the summer months or excessive energy expenditures.
- Reduced Sound. Insulating your attic and living space will help to absorb sounds that bounce off your walls and floors. You’ll be able to rest easy with our assistance!
NOW is the time to re-insulate!
Now more than ever, insulation and air sealing pay off! New federal income tax credits can provide up to $1,200 each year to lower the cost of energy-efficient home upgrades.
Check out these unique ways to cover some of your project costs through the tax credits and rebates available to you.
Residential Efficiency Tax Credit
The Residential Efficiency Tax Credit offers homeowners the opportunity to receive a tax credit of 30% for insulation and air sealing materials installed in their primary residence — up to $1,200 in costs. The credit is available on a yearly basis until December 31, 2032. After installation, use IRS Form 5695 to apply for the credit.
How Do I Know If My Home Insulation Should Be Replaced?
Since attic and wall insulation is important to the energy efficiency of your home, it needs to be in proper working condition. If it is not, then your heating or cooling bill can increase immensely. No need to worry; there are a few tell-tale signs that let you know when it is time to replace your existing insulation:
- Drafts of Air. If you notice any cool air drafts in your home, this means your home insulation is not keeping the air outside from entering your house.
- Issues with Heating or Cooling. Blasting your AC or heat at full capacity to keep your home even at a comfortable temperature means that your attic insulation is not doing its job.
- Mold or Wet Insulation. Wet insulation can cause mold to grow if it hasn’t already. You should have the insulation removed, your attic inspected for mold, and then have the attic insulation replaced.
- Pest Infestation. If you have rats, mice, possums, or any other unwanted pests in your attic, this could be a sign that the wall insulation is not functioning properly.
